  •  “SMP Foundations Training: Volunteer Manual,” prepared for the National Consumer Protection Technical Resource Center, by Health Benefits ABCs, August, 2009. 
    This manual was made possible by a grant from the Administration on Aging (AoA), Department of Health and Human Services and was prepared by the National Consumer Protection Technical Resource Center for the SMPs (The Center). The contents were developed collaboratively by AoA and The Center, in consultation with SMP Stakeholders. The Center subcontracted with consulting firm Health Benefits ABCs (HBABCs) for the development of Volunteer Training Manual content (see links below).

  • “A Plan for Excellence for the Maryland Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program: An Assessment and Strategic Plan for the Maryland Department of Aging," prepared for the Maryland Department of Aging, by Health Benefits ABCs, Final Report, March 2009.
    Health Benefits ABCs conducted this review and assessment, and formulated a strategic plan for the Maryland Department of Aging regarding Maryland’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP). The Maryland LTCOP helps residents in long term care facilities maintain their legal rights, control over their own lives, and personal dignity. Long term care facilities include nursing homes and assisted living communities.
     
  • “A Plan for Ombudsman Excellence for the Florida Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program: An Organizational Analysis and Strategic Plan for the Florida Department of Elder Affairs," prepared for the Florida Department of Aging, by Health Benefits ABCs, February 2007.
    Health Benefits ABCs conducted this organizational analysis and strategic plan for the Florida Department of Elder Affairs regarding the state of Florida’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program.
